US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Arrives in India for Four-Day Visit

(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in Kolkata, marking the start of a four-day visit to India focused on strengthening bilateral relations, according to reports.

Ahead of the trip, Rubio described the visit as “important,” emphasizing the scope of cooperation between Washington and New Delhi.

“There's a lot to work on with India, they're a great ally and partner. We do a lot of good work with them so this is an important trip,” Rubio said.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor confirmed on social media platform X that Rubio landed early Saturday, noting that it is his first official visit to the country.

He added that discussions will cover “trade, technology, defense, QUAD, and many other items to discuss and advance over the next few days.”

Following his engagements in Kolkata, Rubio is expected to travel to New Delhi for meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to Indian officials.
